Overview

Want to learn a bit more about Try This at Home: Marriage? In this video, David Asscherick provides some insight into why he and Jennifer made the book and he highlights some of his favorite features.

About the Authors

David and Jennifer met nearly a quarter century ago when Jennifer was asked by a youth magazine to write about Adventism’s hot new evangelist. Since then they’ve worked on several projects together, staying in touch as friends. When David returned in 2021 from seven years in Australia, they decided to dedicate their collaborative efforts to healing, helping, and honing families. Thus Try This at Home was born.

David Asscherick

Pastor David Asscherick has been preaching and teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ the world over for 25 years. Coming to faith in Jesus at 23 years old, he married Violeta a few years later and with her raised two sons, Landon and Jabel. David writes with the heart of a pastor, the mind of a theologian, and the practical wisdom of a loving husband and proud father. The Asschericks love the outdoors, including hiking, backpacking, birding, climbing, flyfishing, and photography.

Jennifer Schwirzer

Dr. Jennifer Jill Schwirzer has ministered to many thousands through her music, books, and counseling practice. Having come to faith while still in her teens, she married Michael shortly after, raising with him their two daughters, Alison and Kimberly. Jennifer brings two decades of clinical counseling experience and many more years of life experience to her writing, putting complex dynamics in simple, practical terms. She enjoys traveling, gardening, playing music and singing.

Design Details

We were thrilled to work with David and Jennifer to design the brand identity for Try This at Home followed by the design and illustration of their first book in this life-changing series. Tap "More" to learn about some of our favorite design details within the Try This at Home series.

Swiss Binding

The book is bound using a method called Swiss Binding. This clever alternative to traditional binding doesn’t adhere the cover to the spine which allows the Journals to open flat for ease of use.

And because each of the pages are sewn in, you never have to worry about one falling out.

Original Illustrations

Original illustrations, created by Types & Symbols, introduce each chapter.

Note Taking

We included a wide margin with a dot grid on the right hand side of every page for callouts, references, and easy note taking.

You’ll also find illustrations of David and Jennifer throughout the book to indicate who's being referenced in the text.

30 Day Love Journey Plan

Try This at Home: Marriage includes a 30-day Love Journey Plan which we designed to be easily accessed within the inside front cover. The plan only takes 30-45 minutes a day and will improve your marriage as you use the readings and exercises as your guide.
