Overview

Each Journal provides a framework for taking big concepts and large volumes of information and compressing them down into something much more digestible. This is accomplished by filling out 2 pages per chapter as you read through the books. The first page provides a brief introduction to the chapter followed by devotional summary that creates space for you to ponder the Point, the Person, the Prayer, the Practice, and the Promise, and the second page leaves room for you to use any way you see fit—take notes, draw a picture, write a poem, etc. Watch the video below if you’d like to learn more as David Asscherick talks about the Journals in more detail.

Paper and Binding

The Journals are printed using a beautifully smooth paper that’s created for use in notebooks. The paper has a high opacity, and is acid-free to ensure your Journals look good for years to come.

In addition, the Journals are bound using a method called OTA Bind. This innovative technology doesn’t adhere the cover to the spine which allows the Journals to open flat for ease of us. And because each of the pages are sewn in, you never have to worry about one falling out.

The devotional rubric included in the journal was created by David Asscherick, and is the same model he uses when reading through these books.

He is planning to continue the OT with DA series in the spring of 2023 by reading through Prophets and Kings. You can join his livestream on Instagram as he records videos exploring the depths of each chapter, and explaining how he completed the devotional rubric, or follow along at your own pace on his YouTube channel.

If you want to get a taste for how awesome this experience is, David has already created videos for each chapter of The Desire of Ages in a series he called DA with DA, and each chapter of Patriarchs and Prophets in the first part of OT with DA.

Works with Any Edition

The Journals were designed as a companion to The Conflict Beautiful, but they can easily be used with any edition of Ellen White’s classic Conflict of the Ages series—including the free EGW Writings App created by the EGW Estate.

Binding Issue

I have ordered several items from Types and Symbols and everything has been of very high quality, that is why I was really surprised when the cover (binding) on my Prophets and Kings journal fell off. It appears the adhesive just gave out and that I can run a small bead of hot glue and reattach it, but have not tried that yet.

Oh no! This definitely should not have happeend, but we’ll definitely make it right (I just sent you an email with some additional information). Unfortunatley even great printers like the partner we work with in Germany will occassionally have something slip through the cracks, so thank you for letting us know.

Journals expedite my study and note organization

One thing that I would like to see included in the journal is the inclusion of the associated Scripture/texts/readings for that chapter. The original conflict series has these for each chapter and I think that they would add to the journals and the TS Conflict books.

Thanks for the feedback Lois! We do include the Bible verses at the beginning of each chapter in the books, but we’ll definitely keep this in mind for the Journals.
